December 29th.  Matt Fillmore and Andrea stopped by my house today to chill. They are really cool so be sure to holla at them at Feast. Andrea was in Wildfire and Matt is cool by association.

Matt and Andrea checking the 'growing repository...' :)

December 20th.  Today it was -45 degrees Celsius with the wind chill factor. This morning I was looking out the window and I saw this!!

hmmm...smoothies!!     December 16th.  Here is a puzzle for all you smart people out there.
I was drinking a store bought Strawberry Banana smoothie-in-a-bottle, where it says 'all-natural' 'since 1847' and 'pure goodness,' all the standard we are better than anything marketing stuff. While looking at the ingredients I noticed something strange.
It read, "Strawberry Banana Puree (Strawberry Puree, Banana Puree) Apple Juice, and Natural Flavour." I was perplexed why there was this level of redundancy, why it didn't read "Strawberry Puree, Banana Puree, Apple Juice, and Natural Flavour."
In say salads, its not uncommon to list say croutons as an ingredient and then list its sub ingredients in parenthesis, but obviously with just 4 discrete ingredients there had to be a deliberate reason to combine them.
It took me a hour of reflecting to figure out why. Immortalization on this website to the person who figures it out first!

Making Barbados Better    December 15th. Added a little shoutbox reminder and finished my first of 4 websites:   Making Barbados Better.com.
In the interests of saving money, my client (dad) decided to use the same layout for all of the sites. So in a record 8 hours, here is the second one! Around the World in Weston.

December 11th.  I am having a great time in Florida, wow! I wake up at 7:00am and workout with my dad, and spend the days leisurely working on websites. (sneak peak - Making Barbados Better.org - in progress)

December 6th.  The other day I went to a friend's house to use the bathroom when I saw this! Good thing I had my trusty camera! Place bidding to find out who's house it was on the shoutbox, starting at $5.00.

December 2nd.  I just got an incredible poem across my desk that I'm gladly posting for your listening pleasure.

Air Force One     December 1st. If you've been watching the news you know that President Bush is making a historic visit to Canada. Roads are closed, airspace is restricted, snipers are positioned along his routes, and other extreme measures are being taken for his privacy & safety. Using my connections, I secured 20 top secret photos of his plane from my Uncle who's a police officer at the airport. Enjoy.

November 20th.  Orleans just began another set of neighborhood children's classes. When the younger group's teacher couldn't make it I was asked 8 minutes before the starting time. The challenge was mine! I prepared a lil' somethin' somethin' and went off to meet a quartet of four-year olds.
It was unlike anything I'd ever experienced at the regional Bahá'í Schools—which is held in classrooms. The home atmosphere afforded joy, openness, and playfulness that was (gasp) vitalizing! In celebration, I present an anecdote that happened in class. Enjoy! (or huge version)

November 18th.  Showing that I'm not above a little self-effacement, here are five pictures of me from back in the day that throw serious doubt on my claim that I have always been cool.  Note: They were scanned by Afshun who incidentally is visiting Ottawa again from Dec 15-20.

Martin at a January fireside    November 13th.  I decided to go ahead and post a provisional outline of my talk—realizing that understanding the essence of Truth will take much more study and that releasing a tentative version is better than waiting ad infinitum for absolute perfection.  Notwithstanding, it is an excellent read. :) PDF, HTML, or DOC. (18 pages)

November 9th.  Sometimes dreams can come true. (with pictures)

November 7th.  I was very happy with my fireside and in celebration decided to post it, in its entirety here. It weighs in at 20 pages but is well formatted and documented so it makes a good read. Available on a webpage, PDF, or DOC. (Coming within days...)
In the mean time see a picture of the room and the creative substitute I used for my forgotten dry erase board.

      November 5th.  a few updates

  • How much cookie dough is in cookie dough ice-cream?
  • Our family just received a 300 piece poker set and will be inviting people over to take part in Texas No Limit Hold'em marathons.

     November 2nd.  Finally, proof from WebMD (& another) that I'll live a long life, plus a few unlikely US voting results: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 (last one is for Vaf).

Download Ottawa Momentum VideoOctober 30th. The reflection meeting was AMAZING!! INCREDIBLE!! OFF 'DA HOOK!! Carla's song, "Stand Up and Say Yes," was the crowd favorite as no less than a half dozen people asked to buy it afterward. So, until that is set up, here is the video (22MB) that started it all—Ottawa, you rock!

     October 25th. A Few updates:DC Youth Conference

October 22nd. Yesterday marked the third full day I went with Dan and Milook to the Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health to a wood carving class. We were taught to make paddles and I got to engrave a quote of my choosing. Here is the paddle, a zoomed picture, and an explanation of the symbol used. Here is the quote:

"O peoples of the world! Forsake all evil, hold fast that which is good. Strive to be shining examples unto all mankind, and true reminders of the virtues of God amidst men. He that riseth to serve My Cause should manifest My wisdom, and bend every effort to banish ignorance from the earth. Be united in counsel, be one in thought. Let each morn be better than its eve and each morrow richer than its yesterday. Man’s merit lieth in service and virtue and not in the pageantry of wealth and riches ... Be generous in your days of plenty, and be patient in the hour of loss."

- Bahá'u'lláh, Tablet of Wisdom

Paddle made in carving class

October 22nd.  All signs point to me moving out in November, perhaps to a 1-bedroom apartment in Lees (see my view). I'm also leaning heavily toward getting a PhD in Business from Duke Universitya University in the Southern States (except Florida) next September and staying in Ottawa at least until April. Things will change but that's the latest.

October 19th.  If you are able to attend today, you will surely not want to miss  the city-wide Birth of the Báb Celebration at the Hellenic Banquet Center (1315 Prince of Wales Dr.) Doors open at 7:00pm Program starts at 7:30pm (Bus routes 3 and 175 will take you there.) Last time we had a blast and the youth chilled afterwards.

Pics are posted here!  You may also be interested in this article from a newspaper in India regarding the significance of this Baha'i holy day.

Youth who last year went to the Birth of Baha'u'llah celebration.

Delta and all of her J suitors.      October 18th.  Brian and I decided to do something quaint and a little special for our good friend Delta on her birthday, so as a surprise she was accosted as she left work and brought unwittingly to Almonte.
In unrelated news, the Tamas' and the Scott's reported mysteriously finding my MartinsQuest.com cards at their door at the same time we were passing through. If anyone knows anything...

Peppers     October16th.  Last night Payam was dared to eat an ultra-hot pepper—a challenge to which he brazenly acquiesced. Needless to say that he was in serious pain afterward as it was nuclear hot. To celebrate, here are some peppers Photo-shopped in various instances.

Mr. Nakhjavani - Former House of Justice Member     October 7th.  Here are the pictures of and some brief commentary on the talks given by the Nakhjavani's in Montreal last night. The room was packed and the audience was ensorcelled by the occasion. Fantastic.

Nathan Miller - founder of Nathan's Quest.com!      October 5th.  Regarding my close friend Nathan Miller, from Florida, how does the quote go, "mockery is the sincerest form of..." Good job with your new site bro!
In addition, I made a six much-needed updates to my friends page! If you are still not on it due to an oversight on my part please send me a suitable picture!

October 5th. It's Tuesday morning and what do I have for you? A new page dedicated to Misagh's galivanting in Africa. Why is this so special? Because it contains a 10-1 proportioned summary of his e-mail which, at over 11 pages, may be too daunting for the casual reader.

October 1st. Every so often I will add a piece to this image until someone solves it. The reward? A chance to put a plug or shout out on my site!

What gets wrapped around me?

After almost losing faith in humanity, Oliver correctly guessed what the object was. Click here for the answer.

(Round 1 Guesses: Hair Brush, Battery, Don't know, Knife, ME!, Towel, Zipper, The Writings)
(Some Round 2 Guesses: Laser Tag thinger, Belt Buckle, Brassiere, Space ship, Tape measure, Battery, Computer part, something on pavement, Tape measure <-same person who guessed 'tape measure' before but this time he was insistent)

September 30th. BIG Announcement! Check out my first video post! (7.5 MB - WMV)

September 27th. ROBSI pics Ok, ok..here are the long-awaited Unofficial ROBSI Pictures. There are over 720 pics so please pace yourself! It was a fantastic year and I hope that this page can be an enduring testament to its greatness!

September 25th. For Baha'is especially, here is a very cool Flash animation produced by the Bahá'í Youth Committee for England. It really underscores the importance of our role in attending study circles. First made public on this site which promotes the 5YP.

September 23rd. Don't forget—and how could you—that this Saturday your presence is requested at Anisa's for Ottawa's first Black & White youth party. Don't forget to bring some food and snacks for the celebration. What colour will I be wearing? Hmmm....

September 18th.  My fireside went very well. Here is an electronic version (Word - 50KB) of the handout. My 13-page notes need to be cleaned up before I feel comfortable sharing them. (My fear is that people will find out that I write down everything like, 'Hello my name is Martin, I'll be...')

September 17th.  Owing chiefly to ethnic barriers and to the want of want for the sport, I have never taken up surfing, let alone extreme surfing. After seeing this video on the Billabong Odyssey however...

September 16th. Martin at a January fireside I'm giving a fireside on Saturday night which Jay entitled, “Use Your Powers for Good: Why Virtue is not only Its Own Reward But a Global Super-Hero’s Best Friend.” It will basically show how we need more than conventional wisdom and virtues to be a good person or even to be good at all. At the Howden's Vanier, details here.

September 15th.  Announcement. Aerial photo of FloridaI have decided alone and unaided that I can no longer return to live in Florida. I lived there for 10 years, age 11-21, and indeed it was where I was introduced to my heart's greatest Florida Marlins baseball cap.yearning, but having come to Ottawa it has become abundantly clear that there can be no going back, professionally, socially, and spiritually.
Not that I will remain in Ottawa (or Canada) forever as I deeply crave climatic warmth, but Florida has all but been removed as a potential settling down destination, :(. I will brave one more Canadian winter and if I can stand it I may be here for another few years, otherwise I'll leave next September for an A-Cluster in the States.
Please post reactions, if any, in ShoutBox.

September 11th.  I'm not sure how many of you use AOLIM as MSN is the dominant instant message client for my web audience but if you have friends that you want to mess with try this AI Bot. It pretends to be a real person and lures its victims into a useless 10- minute conversation. Here are some examples I perpetrated.

Don't try this at home!     September 10th.  This video falls squarely in the category of 'don't try this at home!' (2.8MB- mpeg video)

September 9th.  I couldn't stop laughing when my mom began chatting online and, entranced with the typical acronym jargon, began completely making up her own on the fly! Please take time to think of interesting/crazy/silly, family-friendly  IM-style acronyms and post them in the shout box.   ie.
       "c.u.l." : chuckling out loud.
"nrbbsot" : not really busy but sick of talking.
"wgagsc?" : wanna go and get some coffee?
"dyswiomq?" : did you see what is on martinsquest?
"lolbmoos" : laughing out loud but mostly out of sympathy.

notes: 1. Shoutbox length restrictions removed for three days for this occasion. 2. All entries will be moved/copied to a separate page for archival. 3. Feel free to begin using these in your instant messages--if anyone asks refer them to MartinsQuest.com for clarification!

September 5th.  The voting for the new G-mail account is in! 22 Votes were accepted and validated and the winner was....drum roll...Justin(#2)! However, in a bizarre twist, he procured a Gmail account in the interim which invalidated Gmail by Googlehis entry.
Therefore the winner is Sarah L. (#7), with runners up being Dan J. (#1), Mahtab (#6), and Paymon (#5). Update: All above got Gmail accounts!

     September 2nd. Some updates:

  • In what can only be described as a sad day for all of us, news has arrived that Subway will discontinue making its double chocolate chip cookies due to low demand. :(   Words cannot fully describe my loss.
  • And finally!, vote on who will win the G-mail account! Here are the entries:
  1. The spam I get
    has made me E,
    I'm hoping for
    some mail that's G.
    Burma Shave!

  2. Martin, i need this gmail acccount! c'mon... DUDE
i'm your brother, please hook this up phat! How can
you offer this to others and not yer own brother
first?! what kinda world do we live in? heh

  3. Roses are red, Violets are Blue
You a'int giving away squat, and you know it too!

  4. Don't need much storage space
    Banner ads don't affect me
    Pop-ups may come & leave a trace
    thru-out my mail of e.
so why should I get prime g-mail?
    because I'm curious
    a new perspective on email
    a fun toy for us.

  5. I think I deserve it because I use my e-mail more for family. (important) family from all over the world send me pictures to my e-mail. so when one person sends me a picture I receive no other e-mails.

  6. If you wanna send me a picture, its just pure mayhem
Cause the rest of my emails, I've gotta delete them
On my hotmail account, I don't get enough space
For there are some emails I don't wish to erase.

  7. I must confess that
    My request is an excuse
    To write two haikus.
    G-mail is so "in",
I don't really want it though
    I'd just like to win.

  8. Martin,
the one who's chin hairs blow in the orchid wind,
is so kind as to bestow upon me a little sin,
    take my beautiful cherry skin.
But now is the time to give me what is due.
    Pass over the Gmail.

  9. E-mail I hate it, get frustrated,
    each time my mails deleted
    these companies conceded
and leavin me with no memories
cuz my pics gotta be deleted in hurries
now i want a g-mail with no worries!
[Editor's note: last entry added late.]

August The Stanley Cup28th.  With the Stanley Cup having gone missing recently I decided to Photoshop some possible places it might have been.

Khalil Greene - Baha'i     August 23rd.  Cool article about San Diego Padres shortstop Khalil Greene.

WaterFall    August 17th.  I had the most incredible experience today.  Nágin, her friend, my brothers, and I met for breakfast and then said dawn prayers (at noon) on the serene, rupellary banks of an Orleans waterfall. With water trickling in the background over verdant, mossy sedimentary rocks we intoned Divine verses and sent them soaring into the Abhá Paradise. Having youth, in this day, spontaneously connect to the Word of God attests to the grandeur and power of the Revelation of Bahá'u'lláh.

"Be not dismayed if your endeavors are dismissed as utopian by the voices that would oppose any suggestion of fundamental change. Trust in the capacity of this generation to disentangle itself from the embroilments of a divided society. To discharge your responsibilities, you will have to show forth courage, the courage of those who cling to standards of rectitude, whose lives are characterized by purity of thought and action, and whose purpose is directed by love and indomitable faith. As you dedicate yourselves to healing the wounds with which your peoples have been afflicted, you will become invincible champions of justice."

(The Universal House of Justice, 8 Jan 2000)

August 14th.  I wonder what my mom would say if I told her that I wanted to do this?

"Hero" - the movie     August 11th.  Is it just me or does this movie look incredible? Hero comes out August 27th.

August 10th. Paymon was giving me props for my Photoshop skills in the shout box so I thought I would do another entry, this time looking at what would be the likely outcome if Microsoft had purchased Nintendo way back when.

August 10th.  Somehow in the last few days I have managed to uncharacteristically offend at least 5 of my close friends. Five (5)!! So, I want to take this space to apologize to all of those who were affected by my shortsightedness and insensitivity. To restate my 'theory' on friendship, I would rather bring ruin on myself than jeopardize our most valuable friendships. (P, A, S, S, E)

Tahirih !!     August 9th. With every step back Ottawa takes two steps forward. MartinsQuest.com would like to welcome Tahirih to our wonderful community with pics of us helping her move into her downtown pad.

  Is this Tahirih? You decide...

jaleh      August. 9th.  It is with great pleasure that I can remove another beautiful young lady from the grasp of singlehood. If you have not yet signed up, consider becoming Ottawa's newest Bachelorette!

August 4th.  I like to think that my web audience is much smarter than the general public. Which box is darker 'A' or 'B' ?

August 1st.  Never heard of beat boxing? Watch this 6 minute video of a young talent from <blushing> Florida—home of everything good. Toward the end he even does Rahzel's 'If your mother only knew!' (WMV - 21MB - 6mins)Yuri - beatboxer

July 31st.  With Ottawa now an 'A' Cluster it is now propitious to initiate small-scale teaching projects. Recently, as an individual initiative by one of Ottawa's youth, a consultation was called that set the stage for Ottawa first Teaching Project aimed at youth and directed toward our focus sector (9). See the three pictures we took. 1, 2, 3 and stay tuned for a progress report.
In addition, the Vancouver youth got fresh and began their own project--creating a webpage and all! See their promo video (22MB)

July 19th.  Back in Ottawa for 4 hours before I'm off with Payam to ROBSI. Here are some pictures from the cruise (1.7MB - Zip) to satiate your hunger and reward your loyalty for visiting the site even in my absence.
Also along the cruise I had time to ponder and reflect and develop a nice 2-page theory on cliquishness - or the habit of forming tight social groups. I attempt to dismiss many specious arguments against it and demonstrate how it is essential for human interaction.

July 9th - 24th.  What?! Only Shout Box updates for 2 weeks! You can't do this to me Martin; I'm addicted to your site!
Unfortunately, I am indeed going on a 1-week cruise from Florida to Mexico to the Caribbean islands for a week and then capping that off with a week at ROBSI summer camp. A well deserved break. In the mean time you may check out these updates.

  • A New Bachelorette?! BachelorettesGreat things are still possible. Welcome Chloe from all of us guys in Ottawa. ;)
  • Flash Intro. I might include something like this MartinsQuest in the future. Warning: sound.
  • Simpura.com: This is the company that I work for and designing this site is why I've been so busy lately.
  • Weird Dice: A few years ago our family inadvertently booked a cruise on a drinking and gambling ship instead of the family fare that was promised to us by the travel agent. Here are dice in unusual places in honour of that strange occurrence. weird

     July 9th.  A Great Bahá'í Quote:

"Blessed are they who are the means of making unity among the friends, and pity on those who in the right or wrong are the cause of discord. . .The friends must be prepared to efface themselves at all times."
                  ('Abdu'l-Bahá, Star of the West)

July 8th. Could I starve to death? Yes! I am going to a vegetarian summer camp where getting over 800 calories a day will be nary impossible. Here is an updated look at the foods I like and tolerate.

    June 30th. A few Updates:

  • Do animals have souls? Do they have intelligence, creativity, or personality? This story should put that question to rest.
  • Good News! Dan is moving back to Ottawa for good on Thursday. Another worthy website entrant into an already crowded field?! Phat!
  • Mental Rambling: "I have never wanted to be one of those guys in love with girls who would not have mHeart Smilye. Unrequited love—plain desperate aboveboard girl-chasing—turns you into a salesperson, and what you are selling is something she doesn't want, couldn't use, would never miss. Unrequited love is deciding to be useless, and I could never abide uselessness."Brian Lema
  • Travel tip from Brian Lema: #1 Do NOT attempt to cross the USA border from Canada without any ID (he recently attempted this and was sent away after search and extensive questioning.) Addendum to #1: If you have ANY Arab currencies in your wallet, you will have a lot of explaining to do! [editor's note: all above is true]

June 29th.  In charades Vafa pulled out "Tasmanian Tiger." Catherine thought it to be unfair but Vafa assured her it was real and even sent her an e-mail with this picture. Catherine did her own research and found another picture of this elusive animal. Click to see Catherine's discovery (found/done entirely by her!)

     June 18th.  Random thoughts:

"Some humans would do anything to see if it was possible to do it. If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying "End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH," the paint wouldn't even have time to dry."

"Sometimes the gods have no taste at all. They allow sunrises and sunsets in ridiculous pink and blue hues that any professional artist would dismiss as the work of some enthusiastic amateur who'd never looked at a real sunset. This was one of those sunrises. It was the kind of sunrise a man looks at and says, 'No real sunrise could paint the sky Surgical Appliance Pink.'
    Nevertheless, it was beautiful."

"A chocolate you did not want to eat does not count as chocolate. This discovery is from the same brand of culinary physics that determined that food eaten while walking along contains no calories."

June 15th. I'm addicted to facts. In fact, I used to read fact books when I was younger. Wow, I was cool. I also like truth. In truth, lots of the purported truths that you hear about these days are in fact not so at all. I have endeavored to weed those out and enlighten my already intelligent web audience.

May 19th.  In another bid to make this website self-sustaining I have added Google ads to this page (on the right under the poll). Please only click it if you are genuinely interested in the product or link, and please wait a few days/weeks before you do because if I get 100 hits in one day (albeit from well-intentioned patrons of this site) I may get banned from the service. I make about $0.25 a click. Hovering over the top or bottom picture of the advertising module will reveal how much I've made so far.

May 19th.  MartinsQuest.com will like to announce the hours-old engagement of Homa and Andrew in Ottawa. Congratulations to them and their families.

For those of you coming here for the first time let me take this time to welcome you to the most elaborate personal page on the internet. This page will typically have updates of all of the (youth especially) activities in Ottawa plus some insightful pieces of information not easily found anywhere else!
Please return in a few days to see 100s of Conference pictures with accompanying commentary!

May 10th. There has been a stir among some of the Young Adults in the Ottawa Community! Recently, about 30 of us attended the Young Adults Forum in Toronto (7-9 May) where one of the inspiring sessions was an open discussion with our dear Counsellor Smith and his wife Meim Smith on marriage. On the way back, the wisdom and experience shared lovingly by the Counsellor and Meim sparked reflection and enticing discussion among some of the "Young Adults". With a thirst to continue in the same spirit, the following devotion has been arranged for those in their 20s and 30s.

You are warmly invited to join me and those young adults on this path of exploration, directed and inspired by Bahá'í Principles and guidance. May 13th, 7:00pm at Vargha's > details

May 6th.  Today Setareh celebrated her 18th Birthday with a small group of female friends. Six people however crashed this stylish dinner at the Blue Cactus restaurant and created chaos. Here are the exclusive pictures. As an unwitting crasher myself, I send my apologies.

May 6th.  A new Canadian Baha'i website? Wahoo! Note: This would traditionally overshadow Nika's 16th birthday but I'm releasing some scandalous unpublished images without her approval!
           ► Pictures: 1, 2, 3.

 ► plus some good ones: 4, 5  :)

May 6th.  You'll be happy to know that the paucity of posts is related to the astronomical amount of work I'm currently tackling. Plus, on top of that, in addition, Brian and Afshun are here!

        ► Pictures: 1, 2, 3.

May 2nd.  Here is the huge announcement as promised. note: Ottawa will never be the same.

May 3rd.  Interested in discovering new music? Enter a band into Music Plasma and see how popular they are (size) and who they are linked to (lines). very cool.

May 2nd.  In a tough battle of charades, our team went down 2-1 because of some alleged cheating on the other team. For the final and deciding round, each team submitted 4 items.

  Ours:
    ►Oklahoma (a US State)
►Placebo (Common word) (they got it: √)
    ►Red Belly Salamander (animal)
►Gems of Divine Mysteries (recently translated Bahá'í Book)

   Theirs:
    ►Evangelical (long word)
►The Beatles: White Album (1968 album)
    ►Morphosyntactic Reduction (only 2 hits from Google's 4,285,199,774 pages!)
►Hello. My Name is Mr. Burns, I believe you have a letter for me. (14 word quote from Simpson's)

Our phrases were 18 times easier coming up 18 times more often in Google (31M to 1.7M). Which word would you rather have Oklahoma or Evangelical, Red Belly Salamander or Morphosyntactic Reduction? The other team clearly wanted to win by cheating so we let them. Us: MB, AH, PA, VH; Them: AH, CJ, JH, AR.

April 30th.  Today is my pedicure. Sarah HT is taking me to Amalfi Spa in the Rideau Centre at 1:50pm. Just can't wait to see the before and after pictures.

     Before/After Pictures (warning: graphic :)

A

April 29th.  Ottawa was recently named an 'A' Cluster, or one "...identified as having attained conditions propitious for intensive growth...50 to 60% of the believers being fully involved in institute courses, with a significant number having completed the current sequence. These highly motivated friends...have undertaken more and more individual initiatives in the teDan giving Ottawa a little encouragement over our 'A-Cluster' designation.aching field...The number of core activities within these clusters has increased at a seemingly exponential rate, and these 'portals for entry by troops' have become the channels for most of the new enrollments in Bahá’í communities. A high degree of enthusiasm and a strong sense of ownership are also characteristics of clusters ready to embark on an intensive program of growth. Reflection meetings are well attended and participation is lively."

April 28th.  It is my job to point out flagrant lies and contradictions I see in the world around me. Arash (and others) just posted a  picture that suggests some of our friends actually met G-Unit's Lloyd Banks. Using state-of-the-art technology I cleaned up the image and discovered who was actually in the picture

Soccer ball     April 28th.  Many of you are soccer fans. Here are video highlights of the 10 best goals of the 2002 World Cup. (Warning: Large file, 38MB)

April 23rd.  So, I was recently amazed at the site Crush Calculator for semi-verifing 2 of the 3 (alleged) crushes I had. Using some fancy algorithms based on name phonetics it can predict the compatibility and more! Give it a whirl.

April 28th. (anacronistic) The post above only sends your supplied crushes to my e-mail account. But don't worry, your secret is safe with me! :)

Beat their swords into plowshares...     April 22nd.  Many religions are waiting for a time of peace when, as Isaiah 2:4 in the bible says, "...They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks..." Here are some funny depictions of what that might look like. When done there you may want to look at these cool 360 degree panoramas—QuickTime required.

My grandfather: Opa.

April 22nd.  My apologies for the delay in posting material. I've spent the greater part of the last few days in the hospital with my ailing but incredibly resilient  grandfather.

Helicopter Pad = Male Pattern Baldness = Spot to land chopper on knocker     April 15th.  Insight. I knew I was getting old when I was recently temped to ask my barber for a helicopter pad just to fit in with the rest of my friends!

    April 13th. Some updates:

I'm interested in taking a course this summer on either Introductory Islam, Web programming (PHP or Perl), or Databases (mySql or Access). If you would like to join me or have any details as to where and when I can take these courses, please let me know.
Nasty, infected toes (like mine)Although I am getting flak from my male friends I will be going through with the pedicure—because if I am not at the mercy of my web poll than what in this world is worth my unquestioning allegiance? Details to come...
I have been very happy with the behaviour of my web audience on my shout box. Thanks for raising the level of conversation and enabling uplifting dialogue. A few simple suggestions however would be to refrain from using distracting CAPS or long strings like web addresses that distort the box. You guys are great!
The rumors are true! CARDevotionals have ended their glorious run in our home. Attracting over 300 people in 10 events and casting a spiritual glow over Ottawa with our humble supplications, we decided that the way was now open for others to take over and lead the youth of Ottawa. News of those will be posted here. And for all of you who have supported our family and had a great time in the process, you have our deepest appreciation.
So what does Martin listen to the most?
For those of you that have read this far here is a little treat that relates to the news post below. Enjoy.

Toronto Maple Leafs       April 13th.  A little known secret which I am revealing for the first time ever exclusively on MatinsQuest is that I am a Leaf's fan; not that I follow the team, or even care about the sport as much as my blood bleeds Maple Blue. My uncle is the Senior VP of Finance & CFO of the Leafs (and the Raptors) and as such my allegiances are firm. To celebrate, I present you with a humourous song that reiterates my position and clarifies my stance.

April 12th.  Today Armean, Rama, and I destroyed Payam, Vafa, and Kamyar in basketball. Five (5) straight victories against a team that had us beat in size and strength. Heart and effort were our tools for success as we dismantled these chronic under-achievers. Sector 1's record in these sector wars, 1-0.

April 9th.   The North American public service campaign "Relax, it's just a game" was designed to raise awareness and promote discussion about the continuing problem posed by adults (parents, coaches and fans), who put too much pressure on young players involved in amateur hockey and other sports.
    ● Grocery Shopping
    ● Golfing
The new campaign for 2003 still uses humour, but in a very different way from last year's campaign. Instead of focusing of the role-reversal of parents and children, the new campaign focuses more on how ridiculous some parents sound when they pressure their children at play.
    ● Hide and Seek
    ● Pin the Tail
    ● Sack Regulations

April 9th. What do you give an uncle for his birthday who already has everything? A Photoshop mockery of his favorite sport!

     April 8th.  Newest quote:

"Scheduling a study circle is always inconvenient while eventual completion a Life-long achievement."

-Martin

Ruhi Book 1       I realized that nothing which is 3 hours a week for a few months, or 8 hours a day for a few days can be easy to schedule. The course's ineluctable outcome of deep spiritual growth and training, however, should amply compensate for the initial sacrifice of such a commitment in time. Note: I chose to capitalize 'Life" because of my understanding from this  profound quote cited in Ruhi Book 1:

"Life is not the changes and chances of this world, and its true significance is found in the development of the soul. True life, the life of the soul, occurs in this world for a brief time and continues eternally in the other worlds of God."

April 4th.  Shout box - Because of its high popularity, I have permanently added the shout box to my site (on left). Unfortunately I have already had to ban someone for inappropriate content. Guidelines: This message board should be

Uplifting to mankind,
Aimed toward spreading peace and happiness, and
Be used for lofty, inquisitive, & informational purposes.
  Good posts:
"Wahoo! I finished Ruhi Book 2, now onto 3!"
"Martin, your picture link above doesn't seem to be working."
  Bad posts:
"Did you know that X & Y are dating?!"
"Your momma..."
Note: flagrantly bad posts (including those pretending to be someone else) are a great way to get banned from this site. :)
  ENJOY!!

MartinsQuest in the National Post Newspaper!      April 2nd.  I would like to thank Misagh for finding mention of this website in the National Post! There was no manipulation done on my end but the article obviously does not refer to this website but the actions of our venerable Prime Minister.

April 2nd. Live chat now available! With a lot of programming,  patience, and help from Crafty Syntax, I setup my first live chat service. How it works: When you go to this page and I also happen to be viewing it, there will be sign on my body (above) that says, "Live Chat is Online." Just click that, enter your name, and begin speaking with me. This also allows me to see who is on my page and initiate conversations with them! Now if it has been a while between updates you can bug me about it.

Taraneh, from India    Update: Within hours of having this feature online I made friends with a Taraneh from India who visited my site at 6:30am (to find me still awake). Not only was she incredibly cool to talk to but she helped clarify something for me. The feedback and subsequent response I made to a taraneh_k1@yahoo.com was in fact not Taraneh Korsandian like I had thought but in fact this young lady from across the globe!
