Visit from my Dad and Carla

June 24, 2004

Commentary on dynamics of my blended family. Many people may wonder if there is any tension between my parents as they were formally married (That's where the 4 boyz came from--no one's sure of Gordon, however <wink>) The whole separation process a quarter score ago was amicable and friendly--handled without lawyers! Carla joined our family shortly after in a seamless transition. She gracefully integrated herself, preempting many people's idle fancies about the role of a step-mother as she immediately connected and verily extolled my mother...a little of a rarity these days. My mom also rose above any societal expectancies of resentment and envy and greeted Carla with great warmth.
Were there hiccups along the way? For sure. Were they swiftly overcome? Yes. In many ways, I feel a great deal of debt to my parents for the way they handled everything. Wahoo! [The following people are encouraged upon reading this to ask me any other questions they may have:    This,      is, private]

[they came from Florida for Justin's graduation from High School and Edy's 70th birthday party in Toronto]

Is that the face that everyone makes when they see my uber-macho beard?

Justin showing them how he spends his days.

AND he was wearing shoes!

Oh no! Now everyone is going to start wearing their tie like that! Argh! Trendsetter!

So then I lifted off the roof of the car to save the young girl...

Angels

What would the visit be without the patented "Marty Pose?"
